California: Part Two.

Another productive early morning allowed me to finish the last of the California flicks. A couple more days like this and I’ll be caught up with everything! Not much was left, but here goes.

Chicagoland: Round Three.

The third and final installment of the Chicago freight photos. I’ve been a little distracted lately so it took a little longer than usual to get these up, but nonetheless, here they are! Most of these are from a benching spot where trains run so often, I think I got more flicks here in one hour than I have since fall here in Madison. I need to go back.

Chicagoland: Round Two.

This next set of photos is the start of benching on my 2nd day in the Chicago area. I visited a hobo jungle and it was pretty neat. Definitely a cool place to either trainspot or catch out. It was the start to a very good day. And days like that don’t come often enough around these parts.

Chicagoland: Round One.

Here is the first part of the freight photos I took while down in the Chicago area. These are from a quick trip out to the yard area on New Year’s Eve. Much to my enjoyment, lots of activity and I benched my first set of autoracks. I’m just getting started on editing photos so there are plenty more to come.

Pre-Chicago, Post post post California flicks.

Hey there. Long time no flicks ‘eh? You’re telling me! December is always a brutally slow month for me regarding benching and flicks, but hopefully things will pick up again next month. In the meantime, I’m off to Chicago for New Year’s and to spend some quality time with some freights down there. I imagine (and really hope!) that I’ll be back with a boatload of graff, trains and other photos. In the meantime, here are some of the graffiti flicks I took in California that I never posted. I have more too, but this kicks it off and eventually I’ll have the rest up.

Photos are from various locations that include: Los Angeles, Long Beach, Seal Beach, Huntington Beach, Venice Beach and my hometown of San Bernardino. And as you’ll probably notice, a lot of photos were taken from the car.

Precursor.

Not much to really say about this set of flicks. Sunday on the way to work I strolled past the backyard to see what was up and had my heart broken by two strings of boxcars, one with a nice set of TBOXs that I could only look at from a distance. There was some activity at the front yard that I missed which only added insult to injury. It was warm for a few days after all the snow we got but foggy and dreary otherwise. Looking forward to this weekend which will hopefully afford me a little more yard time.

It Begins.

The snow has officially arrived. These photos are from Monday after we got our first significant measurable snow. As I post this though, the city is currently trying to come out from underneath an all out blizzard. Everything is shut down and there is so much snow everywhere. But it’s December in Wisconsin, so what can we really expect right?

And we’re just getting started on winter.

December Firsts.

Yes, winter is here. It hasn’t been too bad yet, just a little snow and colder temps, but with storms forecasted, it only gets worse from here. Already we’re all asking: Is it Spring YET?!

Yup that’s all I’ve got. I’m actually looking forward to getting some real snow. Winter at the yard can be kind of fun when you’ve got a good pair of boots.

Stay warm everybody!

Currency.

I’m doing a lot of work on This Way East right now as I get ready to celebrate the site’s 2nd Anniversary so I’m just going to try to post flicks as they come so that I don’t get too backlogged. I’ve already failed at this and these photos are from around Thanksgiving. Oh well, all I’ve got is a THUH, some streaks, one other piece and a couple of sofa frees anyway so nobody was missing much!

Brass Tacks.

I hate to admit it, but I’ve been holding out. Sorry. I’ve been sitting on some really good flicks for the past two weeks, including a boxcar bonanza Sunday and some other pretty good stuff. I didn’t even think about editing them until last night when I locked myself to the computer and went on a marathon photo session. Sometimes being sick and stuck in the house can be a good thing.

But enough talk, it’s business time.
